Newborn & Baby Photoshoots in Wokingham

I am so excited to have opened a new photography studio in Wokingham, Berkshire! Specialising in simple, modern newborn & baby photoshoots I will be offering my signature white studio space set-ups for your beautiful bumps and babies.

What photoshoots are available for my baby?

I offer:

Where in Berkshire is my
bump & baby photography studio?

Located just outside the beautiful market town of Wokingham, easily accessible from London as well as the M4 corridor, it’s the perfect Berkshire location.

The studio itself is located along the Reading Road, above Triumph Motorbikes sharing a building with Wokingham Counselling Services.
There is free parking available outside the studio.

Just down the road you’ll find Wokingham town, perfect for a coffee and mooch around lots of lovely independent shops such as Pops and Flo and Antique Rose after your photoshoot. If you wanted to make a day of it, we also have Dinton Pastures and California Country Park just a short drive away. Perfect places to explore with your young family.

What’s the best age for a baby
photoshoot?

Newborn photoshoots are best done at around 10-14 days, although my simple unposed photography style means that I’m able to offer them up until around 6 weeks of age.

Sitting Baby photoshoots take place between 7-9 months, once baby is able to sit confidently but ideally before they have started to crawl/walk.

First Birthday photoshoots take place around their first birthday (that one’s pretty obvious isn’t it?) It depends what you would like to use the photos for as to when you book your photoshoot. If you’d like to use the images for invitations, birthday cards etc then we can do it at around 11 months to make sure you’ve got your images and have time to get them printed. Otherwise we can do it closer to their birthday, or even just after so that it doesn’t interfere with their birthday celebrations.

I can’t miss out pregnancy/bump photoshoots out - these are best done at around 30-34 weeks.

Can we have photos of baby with
Parents and Siblings?

The short answer is yes! Absolutely. I always try to encourage parents to be in some photos with their baby, even if they’re feeling less than photo-worthy (don’t we all?!) There are lots of relaxed ways to incorporate parents in lovely natural photos with their newborn or older baby, so no need to feel uncomfortable or awkward.

Siblings should absolutely be included in newborn photoshoots, these are always some of the most popular images with parents (understandably!) As a Mum myself I am all too aware that toddlers might seem to be a difficult age to photograph but I love it! They are such little characters and fun to work with, I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to get the shots of them with their newborn Brother or Sister (even if they’re not in the mood).

Do you offer Family photoshoots?

I do! For older children I recommend an outdoor photoshoot, we have plenty of beautiful outside spaces locally. Younger families have the choice of outdoors or using the studio. Get in touch for a chat to see which would be best suited for your needs. You can find out more about my family photography here.

How long will our photoshoot take?

This all depends on your baby on the day but generally a newborn photoshoot will last around 1-2 hours. This allows plenty of time to feed, change, wind and settle baby (sometimes multiple times!) if needed to make sure they’re comfortable during their photoshoot.

Bump, Sitting Baby and First Birthday photoshoots last up to an hour. Babies get tired after around 30-45 minutes of being photographed which is plenty of time for me to capture a cracking gallery for you.

What happens during our
photoshoot?

You relax! You’ll be invited to join me on the sofa for a cup of tea and chat before I start taking any photos.

For Newborn photoshoots we’ll see where baby is at in terms of their feed-nap-change cycle and go from there. I’ll provide you with some prep guidelines before your photoshoot to help your baby be photoshoot-ready when you arrive. I have a very simple workflow for newborn photoshoots which usually involves baby being comfortably wrapped/swaddled and photographed on my professional posing beanbag (happy days for your baby!) We’ll then capture some of you with your baby and as a family, all in a very relaxed way.

For Milestone sessions (Sitting Baby & First Birthday) I’ll have some toys out ready for them to play with, once they’re happy and used to me and my camera I’ll start taking photos. These are my favourite to capture because their little personalities really shine through when they’re relaxed and playing happily - just as you see them at home!

What is unposed baby photography?

This is probably the most important thing to know about me and my photography style - I refer to it as unposed. But what does this mean? It means exactly that - relaxed, natural photos of you and your baby without awkward, uncomfortable posing. Rather than pose you I’ll give you some simple prompts to help capture the beautiful connection between you all.

For older babies unposed means playtime! That’s it. We’ll take a look through my studio wardrobe full of gorgeous neutral babywear, get them dressed and then let them have fun with my collection of natural wooden toys. Baby is happy, I’m happy and most of all you’ll be happy to relax and leave them to it knowing that I’ll be busy creating a gorgeous galley of images for you to swoon over forever.

Other than my favourite wooden toys or perhaps a white balloon you won’t find me using any props during your photoshoot. I won’t put your baby in a bucket or flowerpot and I don’t use any printed backdrops. I won’t surround them with flowers, I won’t decorate them with bows. I won’t use lots of different colours, instead sticking to whites and neutrals.
In other words, the focus is completely and utterly on your baby. No distractions. Simply baby, simply beautiful. They don’t need anything else! Just look at these photos, do you think they’re missing anything? No? Awesome, I’m glad we’re on the same page :)
