When my bump and baby photography clients are telling me which images they love from my website they often add something like, 'but I'll/we'll probably be too awkward for a shot like that' or ‘I’m not sure if my baby will play ball’.
The thing is, it's my job to get that shot, not yours! And, believe me, I'll get that shot of you and you'll love it! Let me walk you through how I create images like these for new Mums just like you.
Holding Baby
It might fill you with dread but photographing baby in your arms really shows just how tiny they are. There are so many ways to do this so I’ll definitely be able to find a way to make you feel comfortable, you can even have your back to the camera if you really struggle being photographed!
Photos From Above
This one is a staple in all of my Newborn Photoshoots, as well as a lot of bump and Sitting Baby sessions. Awake or asleep, wrapped or unwrapped, on my specialist posing beanbag or bed; there are lots of variations on this classic shot. Nice and comfortable for baby, you’ll be able to relax and let me work my magic on these simple but timeless shots.

As a Mum of three myself I fully understand how important these shots are (and how difficult they are to achieve at home!) A photo of your babies together is always high on the list for new parents and I am here to tell you that I am fully on board. There are lots of ways of getting these shots, along with a few tricks to catch them just at the right moment. I’ve shared a few of my tips here if you’re interested and want to try and have a go at home.
Pregnancy Photoshoot with your Family
During your maternity photoshoot of course we’ll be taking lots of photos of you, but what about your partner or Children? They can get involved too! So just snuggle up and let me capture you all as you talk about your new life once baby arrives. Nice and simple, just cuddling and chatting - you can do that, right? These are just some of the most requested shots but of course there are many more that can be included in your photoshoot. The great thing is that you don’t need to decide what you want before your shoot, or even during!
You see, I have a simple workflow that I work through during my photoshoots. This is tailored slightly to each baby/family making each photoshoot unique to you. It also means that the pressure is taken off you having to decide what shots you’d like captured. All you need to do is turn up, let me do my thing and you’ll end up with a gorgeous gallery. Of course you’re welcome to let me know if there are any shots you definitely want captured, but please don’t worry if you don’t have anything in mind. It might just be that you’ve seen my style of work, you love the simplicity and want a bit of it in your life - awesome! Let’s get you booked in.
